BANCHA: JAPANESE DAILY TEA
Bancha is a green tea with a golden-yellow hue. It has a slightly tangy flavor and a distinct walnut aftertaste, resulting from its high tannin content. The name bancha (玄 米 茶) comes from the words “ban” and “cha.” In Japanese, “cha” means “tea,” while “ban” can be understood as something “everyday,” “popular,” or “late.” The latter meaning refers to the late-harvested Bancha leaves collected from the lower parts of tea bushes. Moya Bancha is grown organically on Kyushu Island.
