Available for L-Mount and Sony E mount, DG indicates full-frame sensor coverage and DN indicates exclusive mirrorless design. The I series represents a new choice: Premium, Compact Primes that have a sleek appearance, with impressive specifications and optical performance.

There are now two 24mm options in the I series. The 24mm is a very popular wide-angle focal length and each of these lenses has its own advantages and use cases at this focal length. The new 24mm F2 DG DN | C is an addition to the I series lens group with a fast f/2 aperture, along with the 35mm f/2 and 65mm f/2 lenses.

The 24mm f/2 DG DN | C is the larger of the two lenses, due to the optical design requirements for creating an extremely sharp, wide-angle prime lens with a faster maximum aperture. The faster maximum aperture of f/2 and overall optical performance make this lens a natural choice for astrophotography, along with landscapes, cityscapes, and street photography, especially in low-light indoor settings and night shots.

The combination of the 24mm f/2, 35mm f/2, and 65mm f/2 primes offers consistently fast apertures at three classic focal lengths for cinema and photography.

    It must be my favorite lens for travel. Extremely fast, sharp, and silent. The fully metal construction is flawless. It puts to shame many lenses that cost much more.

    Wide enough to fit buildings and landscapes, but not so wide that distortion becomes a problem. I’ve traveled enough with 35mm and 50mm, and it was often an issue because I couldn’t step back further. For interiors, it’s not wide enough. I would go for around 16mm.

    The size is a bit large, but it doesn’t scare people in street photography if you don’t point it directly at them. You can have them in the frame without them noticing. It looks like a telephoto, and if someone gets suspicious, you can just pretend you’re waiting for them to pass so you can shoot behind/beside them.

    It might be a better idea to go for the f/3.5, which is much smaller and cheaper. Anyway, for landscapes, the lens is usually at f/8 and pre-focused at 3 meters. Most of the time, you don’t even need AF.

    Although at this point, I’d wait to see what Viltrox will release at this focal length in the EVO series
