The Network of Martyr Cities and Villages of Greece during the period 1940-1945 "Greek Holocausts" consists of 50 Local Government Organizations in the country (46 Municipalities and 4 Communities), within which there are 90 recognized Martyr Cities and Villages.
The main objectives of the Network include, among others, collaboration at the level of Local Government to highlight and promote the history of the Martyr Areas. In this context, the Network, by unanimous decision of the Board of Directors, proceeded to gather material (photos and texts with historical information) for the creation of an album showcasing the history of the Martyr Areas of our country.
We are now pleased to present this album, believing that with its publication, as well as with all the parallel actions and initiatives we undertake from time to time, we contribute to the preservation of our historical memory. After all, as the wise people rightly say, a people without historical memory is like a tree without roots.
(from the Greeting of the President of the Network of Martyr Cities and Villages of Greece during the period 1940-1945, Mayor of Kantanos, Eftychis Daskalakis)
