Following the radical changes brought about by Law 4548/2018 to the law of public limited companies as of January 1, 2019, and the significant reforms in corporate transformation law introduced by Law 4601/2019, a new edition of "Companies" was necessary in such a short time span.

The introductory nature of the work does not diminish the need for adaptation to the new structure of the legislation, as the complete repeal of Law 2190/1920 has resulted in a partial discrepancy between the capital for public limited companies and the new regulations. While, as expected, it reinstates the provisions of the prior law in most regulations, the new structure and completely new arrangement, classification, and numbering of articles have caused some inconsistencies.

Therefore, the new edition goes beyond the purpose of updating, as it primarily satisfies the need to adapt to the new representation of the legislation, which, after nearly 100 years, has completely abolished Law 2190/1920, while also introducing renewed legal standards alongside the changes of Law 4601/2019 in several aspects.
