The inheritance law of the Civil Code is generally acknowledged as the most challenging part of our civil law. This means that the application of the provisions of the inheritance law of the Civil Code in practice cannot be achieved through a simple "grammatical" interpretation of their text. A systematic and teleological interpretation must precede, based on the rules of legal methodology: Contradictions must be resolved, gaps must be filled, and real or apparent conflicts that arise between certain regulations must be addressed. Only then will the new legal practitioner, to whom this book is primarily addressed, as well as the practitioner of law, be able to understand the internal system of our inheritance law and realize the social function that it is called upon to perform.
It goes without saying that this book does not seek (and should not seek) to replace the systematic manual of inheritance law, but rather to complement it and connect it to everyday life and judicial practice. After all, many of the practical issues in the collection have been formulated based on cases judged by the courts or issues that have occupied the theory.
