The Brandenburg Gate is the only remaining city gate through which one once entered Berlin. It was built during the reign of William II of Prussia as a symbol of peace. The design is based on the Propylaea of the Acropolis in Athens. At the top of the gate is the Quadriga, a chariot drawn by four horses driven by Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory.
