Capacitive sensors are used in machine systems and equipment for contactless motion monitoring. They consist of two coaxial electrodes, a capacitor, and an RC generator. This type of sensor responds to both metallic and non-metallic objects, as the transmission range for non-metallic objects depends on their dielectric constants. They allow for adjustable distance sensing for non-magnetic conductive materials. They are developed based on PNP and NPN transistor types. They have small dimensions and feature a metal cylindrical housing that is resistant to vibrations and a plastic cover that is resistant to oil and water.
