Words and their meanings do not have any autonomous function. They serve the purpose defended by the author of the text, which is set before and outside the text itself. The text is one of the means used by a saint to defend the truth that the Church experiences and proclaims, as well as to combat heresy and misinterpretation of tradition. For this reason, the methodology of analysis and the use of words are often adapted to the recipient's perceptual abilities and to what needs correction.
