On the Terrace, a man and a woman are separating, something that sometimes happens. What is special here is that the man is astonished by the fact. It was something he did not expect. The woman has her suitcase ready. She is waiting for her new husband to come and pick her up.
But things are not that simple. For example: the apartment must be vacated. Other prospective tenants will pass by to view the apartment and will intersect in a neutral space, even before the previous tenants have left. Inevitably, relationships will form between the old tenants and the candidates. But what kind of relationships?
The author's intention is to show how these relationships will develop. What will happen? The audience or the reader, in the first lines of the play, does not know whether to cry or laugh. What direction will things take, and what will happen with this notorious terrace?
The author himself says: when I watch the play along with the audience, I watch and worry with them and hope to find an answer to the questions that arise from the development of the play.
