Education and historical and social conditions have shaped a contradictory character of the Greek citizen: On the one hand, he considers power as a burden and fights against it (...) And on the other hand, he seeks it in almost every individual expression. One could say that the relationship between the Greek and power resembles the relationship of young people with their parents. A kind of love-hate relationship. And the explanation here must be sought only in the past: It is due to the experiences that the Greek citizen has lived and have now rooted in his subconscious, starting from the Ottoman rule, reaching the Bavarian rule, the long-standing instability and abnormality, the Civil War and the seven-year dictatorship. He experiences them daily and today. (...) Thus, the citizen takes a defensive and reserved position and thinks about how, at the first opportunity, he will "overthrow" the state, the power.
