After a break from Xiaomi, I decided to return mainly because of the price. The last Xiaomi I had was the Redmi 8T, which was a disappointment, so I went back to my old S8.
In comparison to the S8 and Realme 8i, the S8 dominates in every aspect except for the screen. HOWEVER, we are talking about a phone that costs 160 euros (when I bought it) compared to 900. Its processor, although good, tends to struggle with excessive use! However, its screen is impeccable and currently, after a week and a half of use, I feel that it outperforms many phones in the 250-350 euro range.
More specifically:
1. Screen: One of the best screens I have seen, with a decent antiglare feature.
2. Camera: Decent both front and back, although the app takes a while to open.
3. Battery: I charge it once a day and I use it for at least 12 hours a day, which is an extension of my hand.
4. Speaker: Decent, nothing extraordinary. If you have a speaker for music, it is definitely worth it (personally, I have a JBL). The sound during calls is decent and loud.
5. Connectivity: It has NFC, although it is not mentioned, and its Bluetooth is very fast and does not disconnect.
6. Games: I don't play much, so I can't judge.
The main use I have for it is browsing and a lot of mail/Google apps due to work and interests, and it doesn't lag in these!
General comments. If you are a student/you want a phone for your child/mom/dad/or if you want a second phone, at this price, it is the way to go!
Update (1 year after purchase):
The phone died. In general, for the past 3-4 months, I noticed a slight decline, but what happened left me speechless! Suddenly, one fine morning, the screen turned black. I tried force restarting it, pressing the power button, but nothing! It took a few hours for it to turn on again.
I did a factory reset, and for a week, everything was fine again, but then the same issues occurred. It got to the point where as soon as I turned on the Bluetooth to connect it to my car, the screen would turn off. Trying to find solutions on the internet, I found nothing, and since it broke exactly at the end of the warranty period, I went for the next phone.
Note, the phone never fell once and didn't have a single scratch!
Specifically, I noticed a decline in:
1. The camera app. The app itself and the camera were never anything extraordinary, but for the past 4-5 months, every time I opened it, it was a gamble how long it would take to open. The same applied to taking photos through other apps, like WhatsApp or Messenger.
2. Battery. The battery is good, it's 5000 mAh, but it doesn't give you the impression of a phone with such a large battery. I was extremely careful with the battery, always had it on power-saving mode, and made sure not to charge it all night or let it reach 100%, yet in the last few months, it needed to be charged at least twice a day.
3. Performance. It is unimaginable for a phone in the year 2021, with a supposedly powerful processor and 4 GB of RAM, and another 4 as an extension, to not be able to keep Spotify open while scrolling through other apps. It is unbelievable. It is also unacceptable for it to lag while playing a simple game like Subway Surfers.
In the end, my rating dropped to one star. Yes, I bought the phone cheaply for 160 euros (and you get what you pay for), but it seems unthinkable for a phone with a maximum of 4-5 hours of daily use to break within one year.
I will not choose a similar phone again, that's for sure!
Μετά από ένα διάλειμμα από τα Xiaomi, αποφάσισα να επιστρέψω κυρίως λόγω τιμής. Το τελευταίο Xiaomi που είχα ήταν το Redmi 8T το οποίο ήταν μια απογοήτευση, οπότε και επέστρεψα στο παλιό μου s8.
Εν συγκρίσει s8 και realme8i, το s8 κυριαρχεί σε κάθε τομέα πέρα από την οθόνη του. ΩΣΤΟΣΟ, μιλάμε για ένα κινητό των 160 ευρώ (όταν το πήρα εγώ) έναντι 900. Ο επεξεργαστής του εαν και καλός τείνει να ζορίζεται σε υπερβολική χρήση! Η οθόνη του ωστόσο άψογη και προς το παρόν, μετά από μιάμιση βδομάδα χρήσης, νιώθω πως πατάει κάτω πολλά αντίστοιχα κινητά της τάξης των 250-350 ευρώ.
Πιο συγκεκριμένα:
1. Οθόνη: Από τις καλύτερες οθόνες που έχω δει, και τίμιο antiglare
2. Κάμερα: Συμπαθητική και η μπρος και η πίσω, ωστόσο αργεί να ανοίξει το app
3. Μπαταρία: Φορτίζω μ΄ια φορά τη μέρα και είμαι τουλάχιστον 12 ώρες τη μέρα πάνω από το κινητό το οποίο είναι πρέκταση του χεριού μου.
4. Ηχείο: Τίμιο, τίποτα σπουδάιο. Αν έχετε ηχειάκι για μουσική αξίζει σίγουρα (προσωπικά έχω ένα jbl), στις κλήσεις ο ήχος είναι πολύ τίμιος και δυνατός.
5. Συνδεσιμότητα: NFC έχει εαν και δεν αναφέρεται, το bluetooth του είναι ταχύτατο, δεν αποσυνδέεται.
6. Παιχνίδια: Δεν παίζω ιδιαίτερα, οπότε δεν μπορώ να κρίνω
Η χρήση που του κάνω είναι κυρίως browsing και πολύ mail/google apps λόγω δουλειάς και ενδιαφερόντων, δεν κωλώνει σε αυτά!
Γενικά σχόλια. Αν είσαι φοιτητής/ θες κινητό για το παιδί σου/μαμα/μπαμπα/ ή θες ένα δεύτερο κινητό, σε αυτή τη τιμή είναι μονόδρομος!
Update (1 χρόνο μετά την αγορά):
Το κινητό πέθανε. Γενικά εδώ και 3-4 μήνες έβλεπα μια μικρή πτώση αλλά αυτό που συνέβη με άφησε άφωνο! Ξαφνικά μια ωραία πρωία η οθόνη μαύρισε. Βρε τι force restart, τι πατούσα το κουμπί ενεργοποίησης τίποτα! Έπρεπε να περάσουν μερικές ώρες για να ανοίξει πάλι.
Έκανα επαναφορά εργοστασιακών ρυθμίσεων, για μια βδομάδα πάλι όλα καλά και μετά πάλι τα ίδια, σε σημείο που το κινητό με το που άνοιγα bluetooth για να το συνδέσω στο αμάξι, έσβηνε η οθόνη του. Προσπαθώντας να βρω λύσεις στο ίντερνετ δεν βρήκα κάτι και επομένως δεδομένου ότι χάλασε ακριβώς πάνω στο χρόνο η εγγύση του είναι ληγμένη, επομένως πήγα στο επόμενο κινητό.
Υπόψη, το κινητό δεν έπεσε ούτε μια φορά και δεν είχε τη παραμικρή γρατζουνιά!
Αναλυτικά παρατήρησα πτώση:
1. Στην εφαρμογή της κάμερας. Δεν ήταν ποτέ τίποτα σπουδαίο το app της κάμερα και η κάμερα αυτή καθ αυτή, αλλά κάθε φορά που την άνοιγα εδώ και 4-5 μήνες ήταν στοίχημα το πόση ώρα θα κάνει να ανοίξει, το ίδιο ίσχυε και για φωτογραφίες μέσω άλλων εφαρμογών, πχ whatsapp ή messenger.
2. Μπαταρία. Είναι καλή η μπαταρία του προς θεού, είναι 5000 mah, ωστόσο δεν σου δίνει την εντύπωση κινητού με τόσο μεγάλη μπαταρία. Γενικά προσεχα απίστευτα πολύ τη μπαταρία, το είχα μονίμως στην εξοικονόμιση και γενικά πρόσεχα να μη φορτίζει όλη τη νύχτα ή να μη φτάνει το 100% και όμως, τους τελευταίους μήνες ήθελε φόρτιση τουλάχιστον 2 φορές τη μέρα.
3. Απόδοση. ΔΕΝ νοείται κινητό έτους του 2021, με υποτίθεται δυνατό επεξεργαστή και 4 gb ram και άλλα 4 ώς επέκταση να μη μπορεί να κρατήσει ανοικτό το spotify όσο scrollάρεις σε άλλα apps. Είναι αδιανόητο. Δεν γίνεται επίσης να παίζεις το πιο απλο παιχνίδι πχ subway surfers και να κολλάει.
Εν τέλει, η βαθμολογία μου έπεσε στο ένα αστέρι. Ναι μεν το κινητό το είχα αγοράσει φθηνά στα 160 ευρώ (και ότι πληρώνεις παίρνεις) αλλά μου φαίνεται αδιανόητο ένα κινητό με μαξιμουμ 4-5 ώρες χρήσης τη μέρα να χαλάει στον έναν χρόνο.
Δε θα προτιμήσω ξανά πάντως αντίστοιχο κινητό!
