Description & Specifications

What is the role of (social) psychology today? Can it overcome theoretical poverty and methodological limitations to become a truly social and emancipatory science?

According to our analysis, the dominant (social) psychology, as taught in most universities, is characterized by a lack of critical perspective, an absence of social theory, and the sluggish transmission of standardized theoretical and methodological packages within the faded ideological wrapping of 'objective science' - a situation that is also reflected in the way it eventually applies as a therapeutic practice.

The texts included in this book outline and foreshadow a different psychology. They are political texts that offer a disturbing and penetrating view on a range of psychosocial issues; texts that are not concerned with the statistical correlation of variables but, on the contrary, dare to challenge and overturn established assumptions and perceptions, to displease and create more problems than they solve.
