This book, unique in Greek literature, thoroughly examines issues related to the education of children with visual impairments and multiple disabilities or deafblindness, as well as the role of touch in the process of educational assessment and intervention.The first part analyzes the relevant concepts and needs that arise from the combination of disabilities, highlighting the importance of touch in the social, emotional, and cognitive development of this specific population of children. It also describes the most useful and contemporary research on education and assessment, as well as scientifically documented practices implemented at national and international levels for the assessment in early intervention programs, with particular emphasis on the tactile functions of these children.

The second part refers to the Synthetic Tool for the Assessment of Functional Tactile Behaviors (ΣΕΕΛΑΣ), which was created with the aim of assessing the functional tactile behaviors of children with visual impairments and multiple disabilities or deafblindness. By opening a "window" into the multifaceted and versatile content of touch, the book will prove particularly useful to professionals involved in educational assessment and intervention, designing and implementing appropriate individualized programs for children with visual impairments and multiple disabilities or deafblindness, aiming at acquiring appropriate skills in almost all areas of their daily lives, so that they can cope with the significant difficulties they face in accessing information, communication, and movement, and thus significantly increase their autonomy and quality of life.
