Description & Specifications

Humanity has colonized the solar system - Mars, the Moon, the Asteroid Belt, and even further - but the distant stars remain elusive. Jim Holden is the captain of a cargo ship that collects ice from the rings of Saturn and transports it to mining stations in the Belt. However, when he and his crew stumble upon an abandoned ship, the Scopuli, they uncover a well-hidden secret. A secret that someone is willing to kill for – to kill on a scale unimaginable to Jim and his crew.

The solar system stands on the brink of war unless the heroes uncover who abandoned the ship and why. Inspector Miller is searching for a girl. A girl lost in a system with billions of inhabitants. Her parents, however, have plenty of money to spend to find her. When her trail leads to the Scopuli and Holden, the inspector realizes that this girl may be the key to everything.

Holden and Miller must connect the dots between the Earth government, the rebels of the outer planets, and the secretive corporations – and the odds are against them. But in the Belt, the rules are different, and a small ship can change the fate of the universe.

“It has been a long time since a truly powerful space opera has appeared. Leviathan Wakes is an interplanetary adventure as it should be, like that SF that made me fall in love with the genre, with a dash of horror and a pinch of noir. Jimmy Corey writes with the energy of a brazen rookie and the polish of a seasoned professional. Where is the second book?” – GEORGE R.R. MARTIN

“This is the future as it should be.” – THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

“The closest thing you can find to a Hollywood blockbuster but in book form.” – io9.com

“An outstanding space opera debut that follows in the tradition of Peter F. Hamilton.” – CHARLES STROSS

“One of the best first books in a sci-fi series, one of the most entertaining novels I’ve read this year, and also a novel that makes me want to read more from this series. This is the kind of space opera I want to see continuously on bookstore shelves.” – SFFWORLD
