The La Sportiva Lycan GTX are men's trail running shoes with a Gore-Tex membrane for protection from water. The studded Mud-Ground outsole with Frixion Blue compound is designed for wet, snowy or icy terrain.
The midsole features an injected wedge for shock absorption, while the upper has abrasion-resistant reinforcements.
I don't have the experience to compare with other similar shoes as this is the first of its kind that I have bought. I've had them for a year now and have used them both for their intended use (climbing Mount Olympus) and in an urban environment.
In both scenarios, they performed excellently. For the mountain use, due to lack of experience, I can't say anything specific, but I had no issues regarding stability, durability, or comfort.
Regarding the urban environment, I used them for a multi-day trip to Krakow in the rain, and although theoretically that's not their intended use, they were by far the best shoes I've worn on a holiday abroad. Incredibly stable on wet cobblestone alleys, comfortable, and with good socks there was no trace of odor. Not a single drop got through, so the price difference for the gore-tex compared to the 'regular' version is justified. They're not the most fashionable shoes for the above use, but I don't think any other would have suited me better for these conditions, so it was a fair trade-off :)
Δεν έχω την εμπειρία να συγκρίνω με άλλα αντίστοιχα παπούτσια καθώς είναι το πρώτο του είδους που αγοράζω. Τα έχω 1 χρόνο τώρα και τα έχω χρησιμοποιήσει τόσο για τη χρήση που προορίζονται (ανάβαση στον Όλυμπο) όσο και σε αστικό περιβάλλον.
Και στα δύο σενάρια ανταποκρίθηκαν άψογα. Για τα του βουνού λόγω έλλειψης εμπειρίας δεν μπορώ να πω κάτι συγκεκριμένο ωστόσο δε με προβλημάτισε κάτι σχετικά με τη σταθερότητα, αντοχή και άνεση.
Σχετικά με το αστικό περιβάλλον τα χρησιμοποίησα για πολυήμερη έκδρομη στην Κρακοβία με βροχή και παρόλο που θεωρητικά δεν είναι αυτή η χρήση τους ήταν μακράν το καλύτερο παπούτσι που έχω βάλει σε διακοπές εξωτερικού. Απίστευτα σταθερά στα βρεγμένα πλακόστρωτα στενάκια, ξεκούραστα και με καλές κάλτσες δεν υπήρξε ίχνος οσμής. Δεν πέρασε ούτε σταγόνα οπότε δικαιολογείται και η διαφορά τιμής των gore-tex σε σχέση με την "απλή" έκδοση τους. Δεν είναι και το πιο μοδάτο παπούτσι για την παραπάνω χρήση αλλά δε νομίζω να με κάλυπτε κάποιο άλλο καλύτερα για τις συνθήκες αυτές οπότε ήταν δίκαιη ανταλλαγή :)
