Description

It is proven that we all learn and improve more through real examples. For this reason, executive development programs and MBAs around the world particularly rely on them.

The leaders of 1821 represent the brightest and timelessly useful examples of effective leadership, as without it, the liberation of our country would not have been possible.

The book presents significant military leaders of the Revolution and analyzes their leadership characteristics, leadership behavior, and their achievements, which serve as excellent examples for the development of leadership personnel at all hierarchical levels.

From these examples, valuable lessons remain etched in memory for practicing effective leadership in businesses and organizations in the modern environment, characterized by intense competition, rapid changes, high uncertainty, contradictions, complexity, risks, threats, but also opportunities.

The assumption with which we started this journey was confirmed by research and the analysis of facts. It would be impossible for leaders not to be significant people who, with the few resources they had, stood tall against overwhelmingly superior forces and in many cases achieved triumphs and remained in global military history as well as in the collective subconscious. Although the endeavor of the Greek War of Independence remained unfinished, the leadership contribution of our heroes was decisive and unprecedented. This book does not claim historical laurels, as it is not a history book. All the elements contained have been written and analyzed in other historical texts and books. However, we hope it will help, through this different perspective, in understanding—especially by young, ambitious leaders—how important and complex the exercise of leadership is in difficult and turbulent times.

And finally, we hope it will be the reason and starting point to revisit, with a different view, the lives and leadership actions of heroes who gave everything for the freedom of our homeland. 1821 and leadership: How to read and utilize this book. Case studies or real examples, due to their particular educational usefulness, constitute the most widespread method of short-term training programs for executives and MBAs worldwide. Also, recognized leaders of businesses, organizations, and politics are highly paid for brief lectures in which they present their own real examples regarding the practice of management and leadership.
