The Icom IC-F3002 handheld VHF transceiver operates at 136–174 MHz and transmits at up to 5 W. Its large buttons and simple menu-free operation make communication easy, even when wearing gloves. The built-in speaker delivers audio output of up to 800 mW for communication in noisy environments.

The Lone Worker function automatically transmits an emergency signal if the transceiver remains inactive for a preset period. It also features a CTCSS/DTCS encoder and decoder, built-in 5-tone signaling, and priority scanning to monitor priority channels. VOX operation requires a compatible headset and adapter.
