The story begins in Twinleaf Town, where the player and their friend start their adventure with one of the initial Pokémon (Turtwig, Chimchar, or Piplup). As they travel through Sinnoh, they face Team Galactic, an organization trying to harness Pokémon energy to recreate the universe. Their leader, Cyrus, plans to use the legendary Dialga (which controls time) to create a new emotionless world.
The player collects Gym Badges, battles opponents, explores caves, lakes, and mountains, and ultimately reaches the Pokémon League. After defeating the Elite Four and the Champion, the player can continue exploring, complete the Pokédex, and catch legendary Pokémon such as Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Heatran, and Regigigas.
