In Prince of Persia Rival Swords, the Prince heads to Babylon, bringing with him Kaileena, the enigmatic Queen of Time, and undefined wounds from the Island of Time.

However, instead of the peace he desires, he finds his kingdom ravaged by war, with Kaileena being the target of a ruthless plot. When she is kidnapped, the Prince follows her to the palace - only to see her killed by a powerful enemy.

Her death releases the Sands of Time, which strike the Prince and threaten to destroy everything he loves.

With the pursuit haunting him, the Prince soon discovers that the Sands have tainted him as well. They have birthed a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him.
