In recent years, notable books have been written by academics and non-academics regarding specific areas and subjects of special education. However, we did not have a book that covers the entire field in a concise and systematic manner. We aimed to fill this gap with the present book.
A handbook that includes, in a succinct description, everything that a teacher, specialist, student, and parent needs to know to be introduced to the complex subject of special education and to be comprehensively informed.
Specifically, this book includes:
- The general concepts and definitions of special education and individuals with difficulties, who fall within the realm of special education.
- The general and specific principles, modern trends, and a basic framework for their education, with emphasis on cognitive-behavioral strategies and a systemic approach.
- The specific categories of individuals with difficulties, their particular characteristics, the adaptations that need to be made in the learning environment, educational programs, and teaching strategies, as well as the more specialized strategies that are applied for certain cases.
- The topics that we believe should be discussed and studied further, with the aim of further improving the education and rehabilitation of individuals with difficulties.
