Description

Description

An innovative book that aims to assist parents and educators in addressing dyslexia and general learning difficulties.

This is the highly interesting and original book "Green Socket" authored by Athena Kyriakidou Christofidou. With the help of rich photographic material, children learn the Greek alphabet, colors, the months of the year, how to distinguish right from left, points of the horizon, the cities on the map of Cyprus, and opposite concepts.

Through poems, humor, rhythm, movement, and imagination, parents and educators can practically apply the methods suggested by the author, who holds a diploma in teaching children with learning difficulties.

The original title of the book "Green Socket" was named because, as the author describes, she painted a socket green to teach her son the color green. They would chant together, mother and child, with rhythm, movement, and humor: "Prrrr, Prrrr, Green Socket, Socket Green, Prrrr, Prrrr." Her son learned the green color in just a few minutes.

Her emotional response was significant because what she could not achieve in two years using conventional methods, she managed to accomplish in just a few minutes using the multisensory approach, which she also recommends in her book.

The special education with the multisensory approach includes:

  • A method that stimulates memory
  • Information is transferred to long-term memory using the senses
  • Learning becomes easier and faster

It is addressed to children, parents, educators, speech therapists, psychologists, and more. The book has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture for the teacher's library (Special education).
