This book consists of two monographs. The first analyzes the phenomena of national communism and national bolshevism, as described in scientific books and related articles in scientific journals.
The study of national communism shows how the leaderships of communist regimes were forced to adapt the communist program to the national peculiarities of each country. In other words, these leaderships, in their efforts to build socialism in their countries, could not disregard the factor of 'nation' but were compelled to take it into account both symbolically and in shaping their political program and practices. A characteristic case is that of the USSR, which from the outset made concessions to the various nationalities living within its territory in order to gain their support.
Similarly interesting is the (mainly Russian) phenomenon of national bolshevism, which represents a blend of Russian nationalism and Bolshevism ideologies.
The second monograph, which is also based on relevant scientific books and articles from scientific journals, describes the impact of the 'nation' parameter on the formation and, primarily, on the collapse of the largest multinational state on earth, the Soviet Union. It presents the creation of the USSR and details the policies it followed at various stages towards its nationalities. Finally, it investigates the contribution of the 'nation' factor to its collapse and disintegration.
From this analysis, useful conclusions can be drawn regarding multinational societies and the factors destabilizing them, drawing parallels with the multiculturalism that has recently been attempted to be imposed in our country. The neglect of the fundamental importance of the nation, national identity, national consciousness, and national culture, along with the attempt to implement similar policies, will surely lead, sooner or later, to comparable situations of internal fragmentation in our country.
