George Moumouziás was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He is a graduate of the 2nd High School, holds a degree in Physics, and is a doctor of Chemistry. He has worked as an educator in secondary and higher education, and in recent years he has been an inspector at the Ministry of Labor.
He debuted in literature in 2007 with the book "With a bell-bottomed trouser..." (University Studio Press). The 2nd Gymnasium - Lyceum is one of the most historic educational institutions in Thessaloniki. Having nearly completed a century of presence in the educational affairs of the city, it has hosted top personalities of our country in its classrooms, while distinguished scientists have taught from its chairs.
Through the narratives of twenty-five or more well-known and established alumni and the research of its archives, the history of Thessaloniki unfolds alongside the history of the school over the past hundred years, as the school is deeply intertwined with it.
Events such as World War I, the refugee crisis of '22, the economic crisis in the early '30s, the Metaxas era, World War II, occupation, civil war, dictatorship, educational reforms, etc., leave a strong mark on the daily life of students and intertwine with trips, truancies, expulsions, occupations, distinctions...
