The theory of plasticity, despite the existing research work prior to the Great War, mainly developed post-war, while its application even today is relatively limited. In the regulations of the states where it appears, its use is not mandated but is simply allowed, and even then, only for certain cases.
In the present book, particular attention has been given to the development of the topics presented, so that no special mathematical knowledge beyond the basic necessary knowledge of applied mathematics for engineers is required. An effort was made, without deviating from the philosophy of the method, to circumvent the highly theoretical analysis of the topics and to provide the principles and foundations of the so-called "technical or approximate" theory of plasticity, which can be successfully and accurately applied to typical constructions made from straight and planar elements.
Finally, special attention is given, and the emerging peculiar, specific, and unusual operating conditions of the elements are highlighted, given that with the application of elastoplastic analysis, we face many risks when working and studying the constructions at the limits of their material strength.
