Description

Niki Lauda competed in motor racing but crossed the line between life and death, returning to greater glory. Even those who know nothing about Formula One have heard about his accident at Nurburgring in 1976 when he was pulled from his burning Ferrari so severely injured that he was given the last rites. Within 33 days, he returned to racing at Monza. His wounds were bleeding; he had no eyelids. He was terrified. A year later, he reclaimed the title of World Champion. In the book "To Hell and Back," he reveals how he battled fear to achieve a comeback that seemed beyond human limits. He then recounts the epic rivalry with Hunt, a story later dramatized in the film Rush in 2013, and reflects on his strict upbringing and the disapproval of his parents, who he believed gave him an "obsession with excellence." There will never be anyone like him.
