The clarity of Tapo C320WS is superior to Tapo C310 and it has a slightly wider lens.
Very few settings, but it has all the basics and with great usability.
Very easy installation.
Good viewing angle ~ 118°.
Very good image quality during the day, good black and white image at night with IR LEDs, and very good color image at night with manual adjustment of daylight illumination, if there is sufficient peripheral lighting, for example in urban areas.
The additional option to select White LEDs (note: not available in C310) is a good addition to C320WS, for color image in complete darkness. They work extremely well at a distance of 5-6m. At a greater distance, their performance gradually decreases, but they don't completely disappear. IR LEDs are preferable at a distance greater than 10m, but obviously without color image.
Useful dual connection with Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
The dual antenna ensures an exceptionally good connection, even with weak Wi-Fi signals.
Average sound quality, but depending on where you place it, it may be unnecessary to consider. For example, if you place it at a height of 3-4m, I don't think there is a need for the camera's built-in microphone to satisfactorily record a conversation.
The app is easy to use and reliable. Now, for a specific area, it is also a main reason why I add different cameras from the same range, which it manages perfectly.
Easy recording settings with motion detection in a user-defined viewing area, accessing a specific line and intrusion into a specific field.
If you receive excessive notifications, then remove the detection in the entire camera field and select the area you want, defining very specific recording zones that are not affected by animals and trees. I preferred the "line crossing detection" for zone definition, as it provides more flexibility.
Easy search for recordings (after inserting an SD card).
Easy download of desired snapshots to your mobile device. During playback, you can "record" the part you are interested in and then download it to your mobile device/tablet.

Easy sharing with additional viewers on 2 or more mobile devices, with limited permissions:
A) For full camera settings permissions on both devices: Use the same Tapo account credentials on the second device.
B) For limited camera permissions on the second device: Create a second Tapo account for the second device. Then, from the first Tapo account where you set up the camera, select "Device Sharing" and enter the email of the second Tapo account in the sharing settings, which will prompt an acceptance message on the second account, etc.

Image Sensor: 1/3"
Resolution: 4 MP (2560 × 1440)
Lens: F/NO: 1.61; Focal Length: 3.18 mm
Video Compression: H.264
Video Streaming: 4 MP
Frame Rate: 15fps
Night Vision: 850 nm IR LED up to 30m
2-way audio - Built-in microphone and speaker
9VDC power supply with a 3-meter power cable.
|
Tip: If you need a better frame rate at 25FPS, with similar features, check out the Ezviz C3W Pro 4MP.
If you want the next step up, consider the much better TP-Link C325WB.

---Differences between V1, V2, and V2.2---
Practically, there are no significant performance differences between the versions of C320WS.
The V1, V2, V2.2, etc. refer to the version of the HW they have inside, which is usually slightly modified depending on the manufacturing date and the supplier, for example, the camera sensor, and the region they are intended for.
To support the fact that they are practically the same, TPLink does not provide a datasheet for the V2, which means it is covered by the V1 datasheet, while from what appears in the V2.2 datasheet, the information is similar to the V1/V2, although it has been compiled differently.
Datasheet V1/V2:
https://www.tapo.com/en/product/smart-camera/tapo-c320ws/v1/#tapo-product-support
Datasheet V2.2:

---Installation Tips---
A) The "hardest" part of the installation was the external power supply at a height of 4.5m. For a simpler process, the nearest socket on the internal side of the wall was chosen, towards the external position of the cameras, and a direct hole was drilled through the socket to the outside. This way, no repairs were needed inside the house, and at the same time, the length of the cable to the position of the cameras on the external side of the wall was reduced.
Inside an IP65 waterproof junction box, the 9VDC power supply was placed, and the connection with the camera's power cable was made inside the same box. The 3-meter power supply cable did not even need to be unwound. The power supply was connected to the external power supply through a large electrical clamp cut into separate pieces per cable, so that each pole of the power supply socket was screwed on one side, and each cable from the external power supply on the other side.
Additional cameras were connected in the same way, using the same external power supply and electrical junction box. The box was spacious enough for the lid to close comfortably, enclosing clamps, cables, and power supplies.
|
For example, for installation:
1 camera, a IP65 box with dimensions 150x110x70mm is sufficient.
2 cameras, a IP65 box with dimensions 229x180x80mm is sufficient.
3 cameras, a IP65 box with dimensions 240x190x90mm is sufficient.
https://www.skroutz.gr/comparelists/3330?compare=25803290,25345428,28210626,25900925
|
B) For a camera where the installation point was far away from the WiFi, it was installed using UTP+DC (Ethernet+Power) cable along with a UPS. This process requires more equipment (DC fuses, soldering iron, RJ45 pliers, etc.) but offers a much more reliable installation.
The following type of cable was used:
https://www.skroutz.gr/comparelists/689?compare=31666250
https://www.skroutz.gr/comparelists/694?compare=33655870%2C31129038%2C18519244
Also, DC 5.5x2.1 fuses/plugs were used:
https://www.skroutz.gr/comparelists/1586?compare=33263468%2C35629172
A drill of at least 14mm or larger was used to pass the RJ45 through the hole to the external side of the wall.
Note: Extenders would not work satisfactorily in the long run. For proper wireless operation, two access points with directional antennas, such as TP-LINK CPE210 v3, would be needed.
Then, time-consuming configuration of the access points would be required to make them see each other, wiring of one access point to the router and the other to the camera, "hidden" power supply to the access point, the camera, etc.
All of this was avoided with just one cable from the router to the camera, ensuring a much higher quality result.
|
Γ) In another space where voltage drop is frequent, a lithium battery mini UPS with a 9V DC output and around 30W was used (the camera requires a DC 9V/0.6A power supply), which covers the needs of the "wired" camera for several hours when the installation power fails.

----Usage Tips----
I installed the Tapo App on an Android Box, which I connected to a simple TV (not smart) via HDMI.
The result was that a person unfamiliar with technology was able to view the two front door cameras using only their TV remote control.
For continuous image transmission, the Android Box and the C320 must be connected to the same WIFI SSID/Router. Otherwise, the Tapo App sometimes throws a time acceptance message to keep the live transmission. By installing TeamViewer on the Android Box, all possible requirements of Tapo Care can be solved remotely.

I just came in to write because I have 3 installed in the village (Tripoli) after 2 years with the two and a third one I installed more recently. Since the last one broke too, meaning ALL of them now, they have a broken microphone, no sound can be heard.... I restarted, checked the little holes too, nothing...

Very good image and stable connection.
In addition, with the RTSP protocol, one can even add the camera to Apple HomeKit (using Homebridge or Home Assistant).
A small drawback is (if someone can consider it as such) the lack of animal recognition in notifications, as most of the TAPO cameras I own have.

I have bought 3 cameras, two of them are older, about 2 years old, on these two the sound does not work, and you cannot adjust whether you want the light to turn on if it detects motion etc., I have done a reset, unfortunately it did not fix it.

This is one of the most high-quality and reliable cameras I have purchased (I have 5 in total). Through the TAPO app, I can change many settings and customize it for each space. It is small in size, elegant, made with very good materials, and very easy to connect. Among its strong points is the very good image capture, with excellent light recording, a warning siren, and deterrent light—I would say it lacks nothing. Naturally, it does not have the rotation option, but I should emphasize that none of them have disconnected even once! It accepts micro SD up to 512GB.

    Purchased for: €47.80

Excellent camera. From the reviews, I chose this particular model for outdoor use. Easy installation, really nice app, good resolution and proper recording. Also, if you want, it only saves the "frames" you need, and then it's very easy to find and play them back. Completely satisfied A+

The camera, despite all its sensors and the fact that it is advertised as an "outdoor camera," recognizes rain as a line-crossing event, which means you look at your phone expecting to see a person in the area, but it's just drizzle/rain/storm giving you a false positive every 5-10 minutes.

I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1 because it does an excellent job at human detection. I would give it 4 stars if important features like cloud storage weren't locked behind a paywall. It could offer 5GB for free instead of 0, as well-known services from Google and Microsoft do.

I do not recommend it at the €50 price I bought it for (the price does not include a micro SD memory card, which costs another €20-30).

So, for its price, it is a reliable camera with many adjustment features, motion detection, etc. etc. The app works perfectly in my opinion. The only thing you need to be careful about is not to place it too far from the area you want to record, as faces are not recognized well

I have 3 cameras for 3-4 years now. I am absolutely satisfied with what they provide.

Tip. After 3 years, in 2 of the cameras, the power supply voltage dropped below 8.5 volts. At first, I thought the camera was broken because it was disconnecting, not resetting, etc. Fortunately, I thought about it. I replaced the power supplies with other common ones from the market at 9 volts and everything was fine.

Incredible camera. Easy to connect and very clear image day and night. A big advantage is the light that turns on at night so that the would-be burglar sees that he has been detected and leaves. I made a mount to place it in the garage kiosk so I can have a view of the plot entrance and the house entrance. I also made a sunshade, mainly to protect it from hail and rain but also from the sun.

I have 4 of these and they have been working for 3 years without any problems outdoors (but covered). Hot or cold, I haven't seen any issues. They don't have PoE and need to be powered by a small power supply, but I've improvised and put it inside an electrical box. The image is good and it works well with a TP-Link recorder, with good recognition functions. Very good for its price.

A very good camera with very good resolution during the day and at night, not as much as during the day! I like that you can set your limits for each type of notification as you want where the camera will alert you. I have removed motion detection because at first, cats were passing by and it was alerting constantly. Now for some reason, it detects the cats as people and alerts again, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Also, because the camera's light does not turn off at night when it detects something! Despite all this, I plan to buy two more!

For the money it costs, it is one of the best cases to have the whole package together. Fast updates, good image quality, very bright at night even in complete darkness, and a user-friendly and simple menu in the app. If they improve the sound quality, which is somewhat low and not with such a sensitive microphone, it will be a while before something better comes out for this price. If you are thinking of buying due to lack of power, a battery camera that charges from a solar panel (without power) e.g. tapo c425, don't even dare to try it. I have both, and the c320ws is much better in all aspects and costs half the money. If I wanted something more, it would be for the next version to have video h.265, and also to support 5ghz WiFi in addition to 2.4 ghz.

|

|
|
|

  • I just came in to write because I have 3 installed in the village (Tripoli) after 2 years with the two and a third one I installed more recently. Since the last one broke too, meaning ALL of them now, they have a broken microphone, no sound can be heard.... I restarted, checked the little holes too, nothing...

  • Very good image and stable connection.
In addition, with the RTSP protocol, one can even add the camera to Apple HomeKit (using Homebridge or Home Assistant).
A small drawback is (if someone can consider it as such) the lack of animal recognition in notifications, as most of the TAPO cameras I own have.

  • By far the most reliable Tapo camera. I have installed it for many of my clients, and it works flawlessly outdoors. It has a very good video image and records motion and people very accurately. Totally worth it
