Chapel Croft is a picturesque British village in the Sussex area. Life there flows quietly, seemingly, but behind the pastoral tranquility and local traditions lies a repressed, twisted society, locked in silence, with many guilty secrets.
In this environment, the priest Jack Brooks and her teenage daughter, Flo, are transferred against their will. Jack was forced to leave her parish in Nottingham after a tragic incident. From the very moment they arrive in the village, mother and daughter face strange situations, from accidents to threats against their lives.
The dark past of Jack resurfaces when she learns that her brother, convicted of her husband's murder, is about to be released from prison. Bodies are unearthed, people presumed missing are found to have been murdered, and Jack’s unknown dark past risks being revealed.
