Max, the black sheep, refuses to do what he is told. From the acclaimed author Maria Rousaki comes a new book series featuring Max, a young black sheep who defies orders, illustrated by Lela Stroutsis.
Written in an original way, with humor and a playful attitude, the titles in the series focus on the demands that adults place on children, such as the demand to get a haircut, to participate in social/school events, and the expectation to play and exercise. Additionally, Max's adventures talk about giving and donating, friendship, social acceptance, and how to overcome fears.
But why should he get a haircut? Everyone was obsessed with his wool! However, Max saw what he wanted. Selectively. He saw Lula in the front row. He saw the ball when it reached his feet. He saw the food on his plate. The water in the bathtub. The pillow before going to sleep. He didn't need a haircut. Until he saw something that deeply moved him.
Maria Rousaki was born in New York City in 1974 but hails from Alagonia, Kalamata. Her first book, Melpo the Unique, was awarded in 2002 by the Circle of the Greek Children's Book.
