Since 2008, with the youthful 'uprising' of December, up until today, with the emergence of the new Cypriot issue, socio-political developments have been marked by the onslaught of nationalist populism. Both right-wing and left-wing nationalism populism.

Left-wing nationalism populism? Yes, because left-wing nationalism populism exists. We encountered it in the mass mobilization of the 'Indignants' and the so-called 'Movement of the Squares'. In the social and political calls for the establishment of the 'new EAM', in the incessant demonological conspiracy theories, in the glorification and adoption of a miserableistic rhetoric, in the concise 'anti-plutocracy' with a leftist veneer, in the fear of Germany.

We saw it consolidate into a political force, recording significant percentages in the electoral contests of May and June 2012, even threatening the country's European prospects. Some of those who refused to see this new reality began to realize it when they witnessed the enthusiastic reception given to the Beppe Grillo phenomenon, and, most importantly, when they faced the unprecedented political collaboration of left and right nationalist populists regarding the 'new Cypriot issue'.

A large part of the so-called movement-driven Left encountered and embraced a caricature of the 'nation', an unclear figure of 'national socialism' with interwar and Peronist attributes, through the appeal to populism as an ideology. The texts in this volume attempt to analyze the reissue of an ideological morphology known as 'left-wing nationalist populism'. And to show the reasons why nationalism populism is not the solution to the major issues of trust and representation facing the Greek political system.
