Description

Nutricia Neocate LCP is a powdered infant formula and nutritionally complete elemental diet, based on non-allergenic amino acids and a blend of essential and non-essential amino acids. It is intended for infants with cow’s milk protein allergy who do not respond to extensively hydrolysed protein products and/or have multiple food allergies. It provides the essential nutrients for infants from birth to 1 year of age and can be used as the sole source of nutrition.

It is enriched with arachidonic acid, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and nucleotides. It should be used under medical supervision, can be given via a feeding tube and is unsuitable for parenteral use.

    We got it because of continuous diarrhea after gastroenteritis. It saved us. On the second day, the baby started having normal bowel movements and the pain stopped.

    While it is an excellent product, no child over the age of 8 months will accept to drink it anymore, as I, who have tried everything before the child, felt nauseous. It has a smell like a chemical, it reminds me of the cleaning product chloron, and its taste is uniquely unpleasant, like drinking a mixture of chemicals. Now, if a baby is smaller, they will definitely accept it more easily, as they have no other choice. We, with a milk allergy and a need for elemental nutrition, moved away from the pepti formulas and tried all the neocate formulas, and ended up with the junior one, which is tasteless, with a measure of vanilla in each bottle, and the child drinks it with great appetite because it is delicious.

    It smells like chlorine, it is very expensive, it takes time for the child to get used to it (the first few times it caused vomiting and it took a few days to mix it with the old milk he was drinking until he could drink it plain without vomiting) and it makes the stools dark... from the second week onwards, our child's appetite also increased for some reason and although he used to eat every 4-5 hours, now he screams for milk every 3 hours. I don't know if it's because of the milk or if he's just going through a growth spurt, but this situation has been going on for a while (over 10 days) and because it is very expensive, it seems wrong for him to eat more than the recommended amount (recommended amount=as stated on the packaging according to the child's age). I can't criticize it further because it does its job, but at such a high price, I believe they could make it more palatable and less smelly..
