The story begins when Dhoulmagus steals the king's scepter and uses it to curse Trodain Castle, transforming the king into a monster and the princess into a horse. The only unscathed guard of the castle - the player - embarks on a journey along with Trode and Medea to find and stop Dhoulmagus. Along the way, the team is joined by Yangus, a former thief with a golden heart, Jessica, a witch seeking revenge for her brother's death, and Angelo, a knight with a controversial reputation.

The game offers an open world, turn-based battles, item synthesis through alchemy, and personal character development via skill trees. It stands out for its cel-shaded graphics designed by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball), music by Koichi Sugiyama, and a fully English dubbed version.
