The action takes place in 2025 in a battle set that appears particularly futuristic with many significant changes to the form of the planet. The protagonist of the new game is Dave Mason, son of Alex Mason whom we met in the first part of the series, while familiar heroes from the past such as Hudson and Woods will make their appearance.

The main enemy Raul Menendez will be introduced at the beginning of the story through events that take place in the 80’s, and later the title will reveal how, by reaching the present day, he has managed to become a powerful terrorist.
