Loctite 518 is a medium-strength anaerobic flange sealant paste that cures when confined between closely fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air. It is used to seal rigid flanges made of cast iron, steel and aluminium, and to form in-place gaskets in applications such as gearboxes and engine housings.
Its gel-like consistency adapts to surface irregularities and fills gaps of up to 0.25 mm. It tolerates minor surface contamination and forms a flexible, chemically resistant seal that will not tear or break down. It seals immediately at low pressure and withstands high pressure once fully cured, while components remain easy to disassemble even after prolonged use.
