A young woman escapes from Athens with her beloved, only to be pursued by her suitor and her best friend. Unbeknownst to them, the four find themselves in an enchanted forest where fairies and spirits soon take an interest in human affairs, distributing love potions and casting mischievous spells. In this brilliant comedy, confusion ends in harmony, as love is transformed, replaced, and - ultimately - restored.
