After 1 year of use, I have quite a few things to say, mostly good but also some improvements that could be made in the future. First, it’s a little beauty. It looks a lot like the real thing but it’s not a completely faithful replica, like for example the Mercedes version which costs 2500 and is truly identical. Here there are some differences, mainly the 4 extra dials that are missing. All the buttons are fully functional, not like the other Thrustmaster F1 wheel. Here, everything works and in fact, most of them can be configured as you wish. The large screen is a delight, I would say, and generally the wheel gives a nice feel in the hand, especially considering the price. It’s one of the cheapest wheels with a screen on the market and the only one coming from a major company. Now, the negatives. The most well-known is the paddles. They are very noisy. My wife kind of hates me every time I shift gears. Nevertheless, they feel good in the hand. There is the option to change them with the T Chrono for €60! which are much quieter, but from videos I’ve seen, many consider them a downgrade in feel. Another issue is the dashboards. There are ONLY the pre-installed ones and there is no option for custom ones via SimHub, for example. The pre-installed ones are generally not exciting but not disappointing either. It would be great if everyone could create their own. AC on PlayStation is not compatible. I’m always talking about the screen and the information the game sends there. Otherwise, it can be used just like any other wheel. ACC is compatible and actually makes excellent use of the wheel. Truly a pleasure. GT7 is limited. You only see the selected gear and speed. That’s it. I’ve seen that there is the possibility for tire temperature via SimHub but generally it needs some tinkering and always requires a laptop or PC running alongside GT7. And now to F1 by Codemasters, which, between us, is the main reason this wheel was made. There, things are pretty good. Of course, you can set up the wheel to be almost identical to the real one and the immersion is on another level when, for example, you turn the wheel’s dial to change brake bias or press P for pit limiter. However, there is a but, in my opinion. Codemasters’ games have an extra screen option, which is essentially the same screen we see on the in-game wheels. Ok, so far so good. The problem is that when you turn the dial to see, for example, vehicle damage or the MGU-K, you see nothing else. Not even the vehicle speed or the selected gear, so you get lost and end up not using it at all. Overall, I do NOT regret the wheel AT ALL. Even just looking at it, so to speak, it’s perfect. Oh, and by the way, I’ve seen it work with adapters on other bases like Moza and be fully functional. It takes a bit of research but it can be done. That’s all. I would generally say if you’re between this and the simple F1 Thrustmaster, don’t think too much. It’s more expensive, I know. I hesitated because of the price too, but I was a bit patient and went for this and it was definitely worth it!
Edit: Of course, there is a plethora of stickers to make it look like wheels from other teams or just to customize it as you want. Also, AC on PC is fully compatible.
