THE NIGHT WATCHERS

This philosophical dialogue in the form of an ancient tragedy unfolds on a sand hill near the sea, featuring a group of teenagers who represent different consciousnesses and are awake in search of the essence of ultimate meaning in the world.

This nocturnal 'night watching' is a source of emotions, thoughts, and philosophical ideas that are revealed, clash, and are either confirmed or denied. It is a confrontation of poetic, philosophical, scientific, and religious consciousness, as well as the feminine element, in their anxiety to experience the truth, to overcome sorrow and despair.

However, 'despair is not the ultimate. The ultimate is hope. It is the divine fortune that proclaims the world in defiance of all wreckage.' (Academy of Athens Award, 1978)

THE BLOOMING TREE

The essays in this collection philosophically explore the idea of progress, the historical drama of alienation, myth and reason, the poetry of Sikelianos, the passion of existence in Kafka, the mystery of the manifestation of being, which is a source of infinite prosperity.

For Christos Malavitis, 'the immobile tree is the memorialized nobility of life, with its graceful shape. It is the courage of life, with its persistence. It is the certainty of life when it is at risk. And when it blooms, it is the triumph of life.'
