The Incarnate Word of God has been and remains "a stumbling block and a sign that is spoken against" and "a sign of opposition." The Church of Christ incarnate today receives many invitations. Specifically, the female members of His Body wonder why they are excluded from the Mystery of Holy Orders. Why does the male sex of His incarnation serve as a binding criterion for selecting the bearer of Holy Orders? "And the Word became flesh," the Evangelist John tells us, and the doctrine of Chalcedon affirms "perfect in humanity." How is it that the male form, "tunic" or "garment" of the incarnate Christ, is used as a criterion for choosing the bearer of Holy Orders, when in fact this is not only a dividing element but also "offended by the irrational nature"; Could it also be considered a denial of the doctrine? Because it is "unapproachable and incurable." Given the theological position that Christ's priesthood is historically realized through His crucifixion, the question arises: what does the incarnate God the Word sacrifice on the Cross—the perfect human nature or the male form of it? The invocation of the two-thousand-year practice of the Church in selecting those who serve in Holy Orders, without doctrinal endorsement, lacks conviction. Christ declared: "I am the way, the truth, and the life," but certainly not tradition. Clearly, the entire issue does not constitute a claim for rights, based on the achievements of members of modern societies, but a request for a convincing answer based on the Holy Spirit's self-awareness within the Church. Abandoning the eschatological character of the members' ontology strips the Church of Christ of its distinguishing elements of identity and turns it into a secular religious institution.
