The SR 1800 activates automatically by bringing hands closer to the bottom of the dryer. The sensor activates the coil and the fan starts a flow of warm air. After moving your hands away, the heating turns off with a slight delay. The Proximity feature allows for hygienic and easy hand drying. If an object is accidentally placed within the sensor's range, the time safety feature turns off the fan after one minute.

The hand dryer is designed for mounting on a vertical wall and is protected from unauthorized disassembly through a latch mechanism on the back of the cover.
