The origins of the Greek presence in Pontus are lost in the haze of myth. From the expedition of the Argonauts and the Golden Fleece to the Empire of Trebizond, the Fall of Pontus, and the plan to exterminate the Christians, the desire to capture memories from our childhood until today has been created.
Thus, these songs were born that celebrate the life and struggles of the Pontians through difficult and turbulent years. The return to our roots will be our great sanctuary.
“AROTHYMO AND TRAGODI” is the title of the new CD featuring 14 traditional Pontian songs, which is included in the book. The singers are: STAVROS ABRAMOGLU, LIZETA NIKOLOU, STAMATIS GONIDIS, MELINA ASLANIDOU, ZOI PAPADOPULOU, MELINA HATZIKAMANOU.
The arrangement and recording were done by Christos Kaliontzidis with instruments exclusively from Pontus, and the production was by Stavros Abramoglou.
