We are somewhere in the near future. The government of the R.D. (Restored Democracy) has been in power for several years and boasts that it is the first truly neoliberal, nationalist government of the country.
As part of the country's restoration program, the N.A.E. (New Restored Greek) is established as the official language of the state while simultaneously transforming into a brand-name company, controlled by business dynasties favorable to the government. The result: not only does one have to pay to speak N.A.E., but there is no other choice, as a special service monitors everyone for any linguistic deviation, imposing penalties.
Nevertheless, from the depths of this special service emerge the four main dissenters: a low-socializing employee (Anaximander), a champion from Tsotyli in Scrabble (Hermolaos), a secondary education teacher, an excellent graduate in Theoretical Linguistics with a tragically foolish boyfriend (Gaia), and a Thessalonikian owner of a small anarcho-autonomous bookstore (Empedocles).
These four, with the assistance of numerous linguists, both small and large, Sandra with her pangolin, the talentless writer Chatzikyriakidis, and Vina the bartender, the endangered island of Tuvalu with its beautiful servers, the late Manolis Triantafyllidis, and a few others, join their forces, go on the counterattack, and see where it leads them.
