The impressive response to the book Halfway Along the Road demonstrated that, on one hand, middle age has not received the attention it deserves, and on the other hand, that many people have a great need for information on this topic in order to make the most of a significant opportunity to live the second half of their lives fully and meaningfully.

Meanwhile, our own awareness of middle age has allowed us to make some new related observations and thoughts, and to discover an exceptionally interesting material which we believe can serve as an important and necessary supplement to the previous book.
