The series titled "The Holy Mothers of the Greeks" includes a brief yet responsible presentation of the history of the most well-known and beloved images of the Most Holy Theotokos among Greeks.
The love and honor bestowed upon these images become evident when they are exhibited for veneration in the capital or other Greek cities. At such times, it is revealed how deep the piety is, even among those considered secular, who "stand" in huge "lines" to kiss the sacred icon, to place a flower before the Theotokos, to light their candle, and most importantly, to confide "from the depths of their hearts" their problems, supplications, or "thank yous" and gratitude for some miraculous intervention in their lives.
For they know that the "Mistress of the World" is the "hope and protection of the faithful," does not overlook their requests, and intercedes for "the good and beneficial for their souls," ensuring that none leave her presence "confounded."
