The function of the secret school { K.S. } as well as its significant contribution to the enlightenment of the Nation during the dark years of slavery, was an obvious historical reality until the end of the 19th century.
However, since then, doubts about its existence have begun to emerge timidly, culminating in recent times, as supported by contemporary historians of Modern Hellenism.
These historians, in their attempt to rewrite the history of the Nation's slavery under the Ottoman oppressor, claim, somewhat boldly, that the K.S. is a historical falsehood. They say it is a myth created to enhance the church's prestige.
To justify this position, they assert two things: first, that one cannot speak of K.S. since the Turks did not prohibit the operation of schools, and second, that there are no historical testimonies that confirm the existence of K.S.
The author of this book attempts, with scientific documentation, to prove that K.S. is neither falsehood nor myth, as his opponents claim. It is, on the contrary, a historical reality, created by the indomitable will of the nation during the dark years of slavery, in order to preserve its self-consciousness and, when the time comes, to revolt in order to gain its freedom.
