In Japan and Malaysia, it is used as an antidote for bites from venomous snakes, while traditional Chinese medicine recommends the herb for headaches, colds, nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Patchouli essential oil is extracted through steam distillation of the dried leaves of the plant and has a dark orange color, sweet, spicy, and exotic aroma. It is an excellent product with various therapeutic actions. It is recommended as a venotropic for swelling, varicose veins, heavy legs, and helps to reduce sweating and hot flashes during menopause.
