The essential oil of peppermint is derived from the steam distillation of its leaves and has a sweet aroma. It is used in aromatherapy for regulating breathing, improving mental clarity and memory. It has beneficial effects in cases of weakness, lethargy, nausea, fever, and headaches.

Peppermint essential oil is a colorless to yellow liquid with a fresh scent. It easily dissolves in alcohol and vegetable oils, but hardly at all in water. The main component is (-) - carvone, with smaller concentrations of limonene and linalool.

It has medicinal properties and is suitable for treating colds, acute and chronic bronchitis, and rhinitis. It facilitates digestion and the flow of bile. It is used for gastritis, nausea, and abdominal massage. It also has healing properties for scars and wounds and can be used as an ointment or oil in cases of itching.

In aromatherapy, it is appreciated for its balancing, soothing, and exfoliating effects. It can be used for mental and physical exhaustion, anxiety, and general tension. Usage rate up to 2%. In skincare products up to 0.5%. It should not be applied directly to the skin.

It blends very well with Grapefruit, Lavender, Rosemary, Lemon, and Basil.
