Description

Description

O. Levenspiel's book "Chemical Reaction Engineering" is a classic text in Chemical Engineering. In this sense, it is unlikely that there are writings that surpass or ignore it in the development of similar topics.

We therefore considered that the translation of such a text into Greek would enrich the relatively limited bibliography in our country on similar subjects, which are taught in various departments of Polytechnics and Universities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

This translation effort aims to complement another important initiative of translating into Greek the book "Chemical Engineering Kinetics" by J.M. Smith, translated by Mr. P. Tsiakaras. J.M. Smith's text addresses similar topics, but the methodology used by the two authors is quite different, and their perspectives are significantly distinct.

The process of translating this text began as a coordinated effort by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Ioannina, which, as part of the reform and improvement of the curriculum through the EPEAEK program, prioritized the translation of three classic texts related to the science of Chemistry and its applications, namely "Chemical Reaction Engineering" by Octave Levenspiel, "Food Chemistry" by Owen R. Fennema, and finally the classic "Principles of Instrumental Analysis" by D. A. Skoog, F. J. Holler, and T. A. Nieman.
