Juniper, scientifically named Juniperus Communis, is a coniferous plant of the Cypress family with over 60 species of aromatic evergreen trees or shrubs. Native to Greece, it is also known as ginepro. In Cyprus, it is referred to as aoratos.

For centuries, juniper was considered an excellent antiseptic, as it was used as a cleanser and disinfectant. The essential oil of juniper is obtained through steam distillation of the plant's seeds and has a fresh, balsamic, woody, and spicy aroma.

Juniper essential oil has remarkable therapeutic properties:
