In terms of cold and rain, it does an excellent job. The size is correct, considering that it is designed to be worn over all other clothes, so if you are an L in t-shirts, shirts, jackets, etc., you don't need to go for XL.
On the other hand, a larger size is convenient for a bit more length if you work many hours standing in the rain (not so much for the thighs because I assume you will also be wearing waterproof pants, but no water gets into the cuffs at all).
Unfortunately, depending on how busy the job is, the few pockets and the many flaps are not convenient because they get in the way everywhere. I do keep it in the work car for emergencies, but in the first heavy winter, it will be reassigned to farm work.

I expected it to be one of those thin waterproofs, and yet when I took it out of the package it was exquisite! Heavy and warm with its nice pockets, 2 side pockets, 1 inner pocket, and one between the zipper, as well as neat seams. Also, it has a high collar that protects the entire neck, and cuffs on the sleeves! The description mentions that it doesn't have a hood, but in this particular model, there is a hidden foldable one inside the collar that comes to cover in case of rain until a safe spot is found!
