The Free Ride board game by Rio Grande Games is a strategy game for 1–5 players aged 10 and up. Set in Europe in the late 19th century, players build railway lines, connect cities, and transport passengers.
The board features 45 cities and a network of possible routes. Lines can belong to players or be publicly owned. Traveling on your own lines and public lines is free, while using another player’s line costs 1 coin, paid to that player; the line then becomes publicly owned, and travel on it is free for everyone. Coins are limited, so players must balance building new lines with converting other players’ lines to public ownership.
