This is a ceiling fixture and not for vertical placement on the wall. Around the junction box, there is no rubber waterproof membrane to seal the gaps between the wall and the junction box, so if you install it on an exterior wall that gets wet, the water that will run down the wall will definitely find a gap and enter the interior where the connection wires are. The box also clearly states it is a ceiling fixture, not an outdoor fixture
